Shopping online is great if you just don't have the time to spend on the High Street or even if you do!
Here are some useful safety tips when purchasing online
Before making your purchase always check for the https:// in the address bar. The S stands for secure which means that particular online store uses a secure server to store or process your personal information either through their own site or via a payment gateway such as WorldPay or Sagepay (there are many more payment gateway companies.)
Check out the stores refund policy BEFORE buying. If you can't see one on the website give them a call. As a rule all online retailers must offer a refund service under the Distance Selling Regulations. This does not mean they can insist on a credit code only. Only High Street stores are able to insist on credit notes rather than refunds. Definately DO NOT agree to pay a re-stocking fee.
Check out their delivery time scale. Some companies may be on a 28 day turn around so if you need your outfit for the following Saturday night you might have to think again. The majority of online retailers however will deliver within 7 working days, some may even offer a 'next day' delivery service for an extra fee.
So to sum up, as long as you know your rights and are vigilant in making sure your online payment is made securely, shopping online can be a fun and hassle free experience, plus it's a lovely surprise when your parcel turns up at your door, it's like Christmas!
